Photography: Langney Priory

April 23, 2019

Langney Priory in Eastbourne, built as an outpost to the Lewes Priory, is ‘by far the oldest building that I have photographed’, writes Carlotta, ‘by about 500 years’. It is extraordinary: a chapel and Great Hall from the 12th century (one wall of which predates the Norman invasion) are attached to a Georgian house, with a 1930s mock Tudor front. Today, charity EU Eco Hub are working with Eastbourne Council and local, young trainees to renovate it and create a teaching hotel on the site.
