This is my friend, the artist and designer Kelly Hall. Kelly has an allotment in Firle where she paints what she grows, and grows what she paints. Fittingly for this month’s theme, she had a small crop of durum wheat (the kind used for making pasta) so I followed its process from harvest to kitchen, by way of a 1970s-era wooden mill from Germany. Pasta al pomodoro was soon to follow (the pomodoros grown by Kelly as well, of course). An illustrated cookbook is in the pipeline. I cannot wait!
